Samantha migrated to the United States in February 1985 and completed her senior year in high school at Scarsdale High School in Scarsdale, NY. She then attended Syracuse University and San Jose State University where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics with a minor in Statistics. Samantha is currently a math teacher at Central Gwinnett High School, which is located in Lawrenceville, GA.
Prior to her current job, Samantha worked at the United Nations for 7 years in various roles including computer programming and personnel statistics liaison between the United Nations and the various Embassies. She also was a member of the United Nations Transitional team in Cambodia, which facilitated Cambodia’s first free and fair elections. While stationed in Cambodia, Samantha worked in the Electoral Component and was Deputy Head of Claims before returning to New York. Samantha also worked as a Financial Analyst at World Savings Bank in Oakland, California. Samantha then decided to switch careers to education and taught at the Georgetown International Academy, which is located in Georgetown, Guyana from 2004 – 2006 and was the math teacher from grades 7 – 12. She also owned her own math tutoring business in Georgia for 8 years prior to teaching at Central Gwinnett.
Samantha lives in Tucker, GA, with her two children Kiara and Kylan, ages 22 and 18 respectively. Kiara will be graduating from Stanford University in June 2021 and heading to Columbia Law School in the fall. Kylan is graduating from Parkview High School in May, 2021 and heading to University of Rhode Island to study Marine Biology.
In her spare time, Samantha loves to watch sports, read and travel.
